All Members, Non-Members and Visitors attend HIKING CLUB OF WA activities entirely at their own risk. Sensible choice of walks, suitable clothing and sufficient food, water, personal first aid and relevant equipment will assist in making the activity reasonably safe and enjoyable for all.
We do not have a lot of rules, but those we do have are important for the ongoing safety of all in attendance. Always check with the Walk Organiser if in doubt about the activity provided.
WATER – 1 litre – in an unbreakable, leakproof container is the MINIMUM for all walks. In hot weather, please bring two (2) or more litres.
FOOTWEAR – Track shoes are adequate for most walks. Boots are often best for longer distances or rougher terrain.
CLOTHING – Shorts or long pants and a long-sleeved cotton shirt are usually best for walking in warm weather. Include a hat with a brim, sunglasses and sunscreen. In cooler weather, perhaps a jumper or light weight parka – with a water-proof jacket or an umbrella for rainy days.
PERSONAL FIRST-AID KIT – Band-Aids for possible blisters/minor cuts, and an elastic bandage are suggested as a minimum.
FOOD – Morning tea/lunch/snacks – could include sandwiches, fruit, nuts, sweets, cheese, etc. Hot tea/coffee/soup for cooler days is a good idea.
DAY PACK – Recommended so as to carry what you bring with you and to carry rubbish out with you.
